Explore a Career in International Security and Nonproliferation

Through the National Nuclear Security Administration's (NNSA's) Nonproliferation Graduate Fellowship Program (NGFP), fellows work within NNSA's Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation on programs designed to detect, prevent, and reverse the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, while mitigating the risks from nuclear operations.

Placements are in Washington, D.C.

Administered by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington, this 12-month, full-time, salaried fellowship program provides participants with specialized training and practical experience on projects and initiatives that contribute to a safer world. In addition to gaining valuable experience working with federal government programs, participants have opportunities to collaborate with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), as well as other government agencies, national laboratories, and non-governmental organizations.

About DOE and the NNSA

DOE's mission is to advance the national, economic, and energy security of the United States; to promote scientific and technological innovation in support of that mission; and to ensure the environmental cleanup of the national nuclear weapons complex.

Established by Congress in 2000, NNSA is a semi-autonomous agency within DOE and is responsible for enhancing national security through the military application of nuclear energy.
